Stenciling Projects - Wine / Bottle Bags

Every good bottle of wine deserves to be delivered in a nice bag! And, what could be more special than something hand-stenciled by you? A snowman, a gingerbread man, snowflakes, and holly from our Holiday Collections (designs #S0401 & #S0402) were stenciled on these wine/bottle bags. Fill them with homemade salad dressings, oils, and vinegars, or pasta, nuts, candies, and more. They make wonderful gifts!
Materials Needed
• canvas/fabric bag(s)
• stencils (#S0401 Holiday Collection A & #S0402 Holiday Collection B)
• paintstiks© (desired colors)
• stencil brushes (one per color)
• painters’ masking tape
• piece of sturdy cardboard with smooth surface (slightly smaller than size of bag)
• decorative ribbons, ropes, trims (optional)
Step 1. Insert Cardboard
Insert cardboard into bag to provide a firm stable surface for stenciling. Fabric that is sheer or extra soft should be pinned to the cardboard so that the fabric won’t slide from underneath the stencil.
Step 2. Stencil the Designs
Place stencil on bottle bag in desired position. Secure stencil to bag with masking tape to avoid slipping. Then, stencil according to instructions in stencil package. Allow to dry at least 48 hours.
Step 3. Add a Festive Touch (optional)
Tie decorative trims around the tops of the bags (as shown) such as red, green, or metallic rope or ribbon. Even tassels and bows look fantastic. Just be creative and add an extra touch to your holiday gift giving!
